Carmel Apples

Who doesn’t love a carmel apple?  Especially when they are covered in carmel, chocolate, nuts, marshmallows, ect…..

They make for great favors at any fall wedding and a little decor whether you put them on the tables or have a whole table of them!

A few places to find such delactible goodies:

Mrs. Prindables

Amy’s Candy Kitchen

Berries

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory

And if you want to add a little extra charm you can add personal tag to each one.

This is also something that can be a DIY project if you have the time!

Here is what you will need:

Green Apples

Bags of Carmel Bits (sometimes they come with sticks)

Sticks (popcicle sticks or baking sticks)

Milk Chololate Chips

White Chips

Crisco

Any candy you want to try ( oreos, heath bar, nuts, butterfinger, ect…)

  1. Begin by washing the cold apples and remove the stem. Then insert the stick where the stem was.
  2. Lay out wax paper on your counter with cooking spray so the apples won’t stick.
  3. Follow the instructions and melt the caramel.
  4. Dip your apples in the caramel by tipping the bowl, holding the stick, and spin the apple in the carmel. Make sure you evenly coat the apple almost to the top.
  5. Place the apples on the wax paper and put them in the fridge until the caramel is solid.
  6. In 2 bowls put each flavor of chocolate chips. Add a Tablespoon of Crisco to each bowl; this will make the chocolate more viscous. Then microwave until melted, stirring every once in awhile.
  7. Repeat dipping step with the chocolate and then you can sprinkle with your candy if you choose to.  Most of those candies will need to be crushed first.
  8.  Put back in the fridge for 30 minutes or longer.
  9.  Put apples in individual clear bags and tie up with ribbon matching your wedding colors.  You can also do a custom lable hanging from the outside ribbon or a sticker type on the outside of the bag before you put the apple in.
